About this event
Christine Brunnock is a Cornish artist based in St Ives. Her inspiration comes from her experience of growing up near the coast and her need to express through art.
She uses a combination of observation, memory and imagination to create atmospheric paintings together with her emotional expression, inviting the viewer to relate and make their own interpretation.
Christine works mainly with acrylic media, using palette knives, brushes and any other item to make a mark. Her practice is constantly evolving, exploring possibilities and pushing her own boundaries.
This collection of work explores the formation and patterns of rock and sand. It illustrates the energetic interaction of the elements and the tumultuous relationship between the ocean and land. Where a painting may seem dark and foreboding, there is always light, no matter how faint. The ocean mesmerizes and fascinates with its ancient history, its mystery and dramatic transformations. It is the source of life and draws us to it, thereby providing the name of her exhibition.
