Penzance Literary Festival 2015

8th - 11th July 2015

This is probably the friendliest and most inclusive literary festival in the country. Come and meet a galaxy of prize-winning and up-and-coming authors, poets and playwrights, from West Cornwall and 'up-country' too.

Penzance Lit Fest 2015

The Penzance Literary Festival 2015 will run from Wednesday 8th – Saturday 11th July.

CREATIVE sparks are set to fly at the 2015 Penzance Literary Festival, with a heady array of big-name authors, rising stars and local celebrities on the bill, plus expert-led workshops for anyone interested in taking up the pen themselves.

Among the authors taking part are bestselling novelist Patrick Gale, who will be talking about his new book, A Place Called Winter, comedian Tony Hawks - and Rachel Joyce, who will be discussing The Love Story of Miss Queenie Hennessy, the recently published follow-up to her bestseller The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Also in the lineup is acclaimed travel writer Philip Marsden, who will appear in the opening session of the Litfest discussing his latest, Cornwall-set, book, Rising Ground.

There's a strong showing for non-fiction tales of adventure and far-off lands on the 2015 programme. Explorer Jason Lewis will be talking about his audacious human-powered circumnavigation of the world; journalist Alexander Monro will reveal the historical journey of paper-making technology and Cornish travel writer Tim Hannigan will be sharing stories from his new book on the history of Indonesia.

Elsewhere, the programme features LittleFest, a dedicated festival-within-a-festival aimed squarely at young readers. There are also events for writers, including a day-long workshop on writing for performance from successful scriptwriter Paul Dodgson, and a Publishing Day on 9 July, with a series of insightful sessions for those planning on publishing their own work.

The event runs from Wednesday 8 July to Saturday 11 July.
