About this event
The Godolphin Tinners’ Festival takes place at the heart of a village which is itself in the middle of a famous World Heritage Site for Mining. We see the way that mainstream “heritage” is celebrated, but we wish to try to tell a story of very local people and their families, making our focus the miners and their families that did the digging and shared hard times and high days.
Taking place alongside the National Trust’s Heritage Open Days at Godolphin House from September 11th to 18th, the programme includes: local walks around almost forgotten mining sites; interaction with locally sourced artefacts; lectures and films showcasing local expertise and Godolphin’s long-standing mining families; work with schools on forgotten technologies and know – how; local food, song and drink – and a Tinners’ Market offering the best of local produce and craft.
Some events are free, and some charge ticket prices.
Made possible by funding from Feast ( supported by Arts Council England and Cornwall Council) and Cornwall Heritage Trust, this event is a local take on a people that shaped a national and international phenomenon
